Manali derived it's name from Manavalaya, the home of Manu. The mountains and River Beas cut through the town creating an enchanting environment, covered with pine and apple orchards. Manali is said to be the most picturesque hill station of Himanchal Pradesh and is also known as the Valley of Gods.
