Surya Samudra Beach Garden Trivandrum is an eco-friendly beach resort only thirty miles from the tip of India near Vizhiniam harbor. Spread over sprawling 20 acres of land, there are 23 private houses each with a abundant growth of shrubbery.

Rooms:
Each of the 23 cottages commands an unrestricted and picturesque view of the beaches and the sea beyond them. Embedded sand paths are lined with green plants links each house with another but are hidden from each other by thick vegetation. Traditional Kerala houses, Tharawads, were purchased and re-assembled as cottages. Bathrooms or ‘Bath Gardens’ are open air and confined by slopes on all sides. Each house also has an open-air cafeteria.

Dinning:
The Octopus is the name of the restaurant at Surya Samudra Beach Garden Trivandrum. Semi-circular in form, the Octopus can cater up to 40 person at one time. Try out seafood such as lobsters, tiger prawns, octopus, shark, barracuda putta, sea urchins, baked crabs and Japanese tuna salad to local vegetarian dishes. All the food I prepared from freshly procured ingredients and no preservative is used with the exception of jam, cream and pickles. Fresh fish is caught from the sea and vegetable and fruits are grown in the resort’s garden.
