The Hotel Laxmi Niwas Palace was the main royal
residential part of the Lalgarh Palace complex. The
Lalgarh Palace was built and designed by the Sir
Swinton Jacob on the order of Maharaja Shri Ganga
Singhji of Bikaner in the Indo-saracenic style and was
their personal residence. This palace was a landmark
in the architectural history of Bikaner. This palace
was built in red sandstone and thus named as Lalgarh
Palace. This palace was completed in 1902 after four
years. Today this palace has been converted into a
heritage hotel. This palace is set amidst vast lush
green lawns, lily ponds and fountains.

Laxmi Niwas Palace is located about 2 kms. from the
railway station, 1 kms from the bus stand and 1 kms
from the city center.

Rooms:
The rooms in the Hotel Laxmi Niwas Palace were earlier
used by the royal family itself or by the personal
guests of the Maharaja. Most of the rooms are
decorated using gold wall paintings and carved wood
ceilings. Various typical Rajasthani motifs and
designs were used while decorating the hotel. These
rooms have now been refurnished keeping in mind their
original décor with all the modern facilities and
provide all the basic comforts to the travelers. There
are about 42 suite and deluxe rooms in the hotel which
overlook the lush green surroundings and the clock
tower. All the rooms are air-conditioned and provided
with the various modern amenities like dressing room,
attached bathroom with bathtub and hot and cold water
running water supply, refrigerator, color television,
telephone with direct dial facility etc. |

Dining:
"Swarna
Mahal" is a luxurious specialty restaurant which
serves authentic Northwest Frontier cuisine. It is
located in the erstwhile dining room of Maharaja Ganga
Singhji. This dining room is decorated with pure gold
wall paintings and a gilded carved woodwork ceiling. "Hari
Mahal" is the 24 hours coffee shop which serves
delicacies from around the world. This coffee shop is
located in the study room of Maharaja Ganga Singhji. "Chowk"
or the inner courtyard is the heart of Laxmi Niwas
Palace. Gala dinners with the folk music and dance are
also organized in this palace. You can also enjoy a
private dinner on the terrace overlooking the lawns.
The "Trophy Bar" is the well stocked bar that serves a
wide range of drinks and a variety of cocktails. This
bar is decorated with trophies from the hunting
expeditions of the Kings. |

Facilities:
Some of the facilities which are provided to the
tourists in the hotel are the royal welcome, parking,
round the clock room service and STD and ISD
facilities. There is also a conference hall in the
hotel which is equipped with all major facilities. The
beautiful conference hall was the smoking room of
Maharaja Ganga Singhji. This room has been witness to
many important cabinet meetings of the Bikaner State.
The green and gilded wooden ceiling was designed to
provide an ambience conducive to serious thinking. In
the billiard room the game trophies from all over the
world are beautifully displayed and you can also enjoy
various games like billiards, chess or cards. |
